Where are backups stored?
Backups are stored on separate cloud infrastructure from your hosting server. We use enterprise cloud storage providers (AWS S3, DigitalOcean Spaces, or similar) in a different geographic region than your primary server to ensure data survival even in regional outages.
How long are backups retained?
Our standard plan includes 30-day retention with daily backups. This means you can restore from any day in the past month. For longer retention needs (compliance requirements, etc.), we offer extended plans with 90-day or 1-year retention policies.
How fast can I restore from a backup?
Most restores complete within 15-30 minutes depending on site size. Small sites (under 5GB) typically restore in under 10 minutes. Individual file restores are nearly instant. We also offer partial restores if you only need to recover specific files or a single database.
What exactly gets backed up?
Everything. Website files, databases (MySQL/MariaDB/PostgreSQL), email accounts and messages, cron jobs, server configurations, SSL certificates, and DNS zone files. We create a complete snapshot so you can fully rebuild your environment from scratch if needed.
Are backups encrypted?
Yes. All backups are encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Encryption keys are managed separately from the backup storage, ensuring that even if storage is compromised, data remains unreadable without the decryption keys.
